Driftwood Christian Church Midweek Update: July 2, 2010
News Updates
Dear Driftwood Christian Church family,
Hope all are well and had a great 4th of July weekend.
The Windmill Class is in charge of services at the Cherokee Nursing Home, this Sunday at 4 p.m. We had a group of about 10 adults there last Sunday. Sam gave the message, C.T. lead the singing and Marilyn played piano. Everyone was in good spirits and had enjoyed the fireworks from the night before.
Charles would like to update the list of drivers recognized by our auto
insurance company as drivers of the van. We will have a sign up sheet at the back of the sanctuary this Sunday for anyone who would like to add their name to the list. If you think that you may drive the van in the future please give us your drivers license number and date of birth. You don't have to have a CDL or anything other than a common drivers license to be included.
Stacey and Remington Farney came home last Monday and at last report are doing well. Stacey is probably lacking some sleep by now.
We continue to collect email addresses and cell phone numbers to update our file. The sign up list is at the back of the sanctuary. If you
haven't written yours down please do so that we can reach you by phone with texting or email whenever we have a prayer request.
The 4 yr. old thru fourth grade Sunday School students are taking a trip to the Kansas Underground Salt Mines tomorrow. We will be leaving at 10 a.m. from the church, eating lunch in Hutchinson, KS then touring the salt mines. We'll leave Hutchinson at 3 or 3:30 p.m. and come back to swim at Mickey and Sheila Ferrell's. Sheila and the moms are going to provide a hot dog supper with fix in's. We are all excited about going! Adults going are Mark and Sue Harden, Brenda Clark, Edi Burnet and Sasha and Roxy Kirkpatrick. The kids are Makayla and Gavin McCullough, Anthony Clark, Tateyn Rieger, Kathlyn Guffy, Emily and Lauren Burnet and their cousin. Please pray for a fun, safe and informative trip for us all.
Congratulations are in order for Brad Rieger. He was recently elected to the KanOkla Telephone Board of Directors and attended his first meeting this week.
This week Rob Kirkpatrick will be continuing with his series "Handling the Storms of Life." The title of this Sunday's message is "How to Handle Life's Hurts." the kids who attended camp will be leading the opening songs and doing a skit "The Days of Creation." Also, Randy McCullough has put together a camp DVD presentation for our enjoyment.
Sunday, July 18th, Brian Wright will be bringing the message. DeAnna
thinks it is entitled "I Believe I am Wrong."
I checked the baptistery closet this week and there are no towels. Would anyone like to contribute some towels you'd like to replace? It is nice to have 3-4 on hand for baptisms.
The pantry in the kitchen is full of discarded pop cans. Does anyone have information on where these are supposed to go?
The high school Sunday School moms are doing an extreme makeover of the furnishings in the high school room. The furniture will be given away unless I can find out who it belonged to and they want it back. Please let me know if you are one of those people
Come see me in my newly arranged office. My granddaughter Kathlyn kept me company this week. She was a big help with picking up trash in the sanctuary, straightening the hymn books, sweeping grass from the sidewalks and cleaning the van. Hope she doesn't get bored and decide she needs a rest.
See you Sunday. Have a great Saturday.
